Every season, a fabulous round of concert tours hits extended Island/New York City area and this fall our venues welcome many of music's best and brightest. Welcome to "What's happening around Long Island", totally new monthly series focused upon keeping you kept informed on upcoming events in and around Long Island. In this particular issue, musical performances coming to the region this October are highlighted.
Local Natives, a five-piece, the blakes band from California, is playing on Tuesday, November. 21. Jason Falkner, a solo power pop musician, is playing on Thursday, November. 23. Both shows are at 6 s.m., and the artists will be around to sign their albums (or your forehead) since the show.
Denver indie-rock band Places will headline at Little Bear Saloon, 27895 Hwy 74 in downtown Evergreen. $6 cover at the door; band starts playing at 9:00 PM. Come early and hear Kristin Kay Band from 5-8 Pm hours. Ages 21+.
"Nursery, Academy" is a brief rock track that identified Dave sings on different notes in most minutes. The actual planet beginning, Dave can be heard singing, "I would've gone back home, i would've gone back home, it's bad enough you're here and it has worse that you may have come with." Smart lyrics i theory. This song begins choose up from a short while once the bass shows up. Keyboardist Graham should have worked tough here considering keyboard is all over in addition to with different notes. Tokyo Police Club are trying very hard on this track to enable sounds great as is feasible. I can feel these people work very hard on this track.
"Merry Christmas Will Do" by Material Issue - Also on the 1991 "Yuletunes" compilation, this track by local pop greats Material Issue has a cool, crunchy guitar riff that makes a rocking, welcome addition to any holiday array. (Get it here).
Any good bands approaching on the Atlanta scene? There's a great band; these kinds of actually still in college. They're called The Balkans. I hope I can put out a 7 inch of theirs as well. I just saw them last night, they were great.

The unique aspect of these tale generally that the aspirant plays a saxophone which, ironically, is not used from the song.
